Minecraft:
MULTIPLAYER:
Now before I give my review on Minecraft let me talk to you about its multiplayer capability. This is a GREAT function allowing you to connect to your friends server, or a public server. This basically means you can play with other people, which in my opinion is fantastic. If anyone needs help setting up a server or with Minecraft in general, let me know by sending a help request or emailing me [email protected]. because unless you know what your doing, setting up a server can be rather tricky and complicated. Oh and another thing about servers, you can set a "cracked" server (craftbukkit) meaning your friends who have yet to purchase Minecraft can also play. This also makes it easier to have addons on your server. Did I forget to mention those? Well these addons allow you to do things not normally capable in Minecraft. Things like, teleporters, adding literally other planets and moons. There's also mods that add new blocks (FeedTheBeast minecraft launcher) that have the potential to be built into a self automated mining tunnel with attached sorter and smelters. For literally every kind of block / ore. Not only that you can also have an economy in Minecraft, meaning you can buy and sell things. Another handy mod, WorldEdit, is a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it you can use it to build MASSIVE sturctures that would take months, in say a couple weeks. But my personal favorite, an addon called mcmmo. It allows you to level up. And I don't mean the normal killing monsters/animals and getting to a higher level, I mean adding new levels entirely. Levels such as mining, woodcutting, herbalism, excavation and so on. But if you want to find out more about Multiplayer in minecraft you can either do more research (Google is your friend), or contact me and ask for the details on my server.
On a side note:
I do have a server. So if you're interested in a creative build server, email me at [email protected]
Redstone experience would be a plus, however not required. If you do end up joining, and don't have redstone experience, then I would be happy to teach you.
The server IP is: Available upon acceptance, sent via email
BUT in order to be able to log on, you will need to send me an application at the above mentioned email address requesting to become whitelisted. In your application, you should include information such as your in-game name, experience / preferance with creative, gaming experience, and anything else you feel would help me to better understand you.
OPTIONAL: You could also include pictures / videos of your creations, or links to said material. Note: If you include a link to a website that requires a survey to be answered, your application will be trashed without the consideration to continue reading or returning contact.

Overall review
Minecraft is a game is most accurately described as a Lego game for big kids. In this game (survival mode) the goal is to harvest materials, build sturctures, attend to your hunger (yes you can actually starve), and generally improve your in game quality of life. In Minecraft there are multiple dimensions, the Overworld being where you start out at having all the normal things like trees water and even monsters. Then there's the Nether, otherwise known as hell, which has no water or the ability to create water, it has minimal light, and an abundance of lava. Then last but not least there's the Enderworld acting as a sort of world in the sky, it features an endless amount of sandstone blocks, obsidian towers, and Endermen which are creatures with the ability to teleport and that enjoy stealing random block off of anything you build.
Since the full release of the game, there has been many additions, updates, and mods. Dozens of new blocks, have given you the ability to essentially create a computer in the game using redstone. Auto-sorting machines in the regular version of minecraft, and basically anything you could imagine.

That's just an overview of Minecraft, below I've listed some other features of Minecraft as well as some pro's and con's.
Other Cool Features:
- It has a 3d option which is rather ineffective due to the fact that instead of using normal color scheme it switches over to using a blue and red image of the Minecraft your playing putting them side by side the same effect 3d glasses for movies use.
- It has a multiplayer option giving players the ability to host their own server, change the rules to their liking, as well as allowing them to pick and chose who is allowed on their server and who to ban.
- It's constantly getting updated which, in my opinion, is awesome. The Mojang team is constantly adding new features and things to do in your Minecraft world so expect to keep being suprise with new features. Until the full release of Minecraft that is.

Pro's - Like I mentioned earlier it has multilayer capabilities. It has the ability to host about 200 people on a single server depending on if the server itself is capable of doing so.
- The amount of time and enjoyment you get out of the game is entirely worth the price. And if you happen to buy the game before its full release date on November 18, 2011 you'll be able to purchase it for amount $20.00 and you'll never have to pay for updates or pay the difference of price for the full Minecraft. - The addition of survival mode, allows players of literally every kind to enjoy the game. - It come with the ability to change texture packs adding so that you can change the look and feel of the game - It has the capability of being modded to do things like having a customizable mini map, being able to spawn what items you what in what ever proportions you want them in etc. - It also has a huge fan base making mods and texture packs commonly available. - The amount of different colors and blocks available allows you to create millions of different combination's and creations - Equipping your online server with addons becomes easy through the use of craftbukkit, an alternative to the minecraft_server.jar server. That was, until recently, supported and then owned by mojang them selves. |
Con's - It's EXTREMELY time consuming to build things of epic proportions. Especially if you like the game as it becomes rather addictive.
- It's actually fairly easy to crash an online server, all it takes is doing too many things at once. Such as igniting too much tnt at once. - The size of the blocks and the fact that they aren't rounded, makes it fairly challenging to make detailed creations. - It doesn't necessarily support modding, or at least you probably shouldn't mod the single player game. - Considering the blocks are in deed cube-ish in nature, it's rather confusing to create circles. (if you're into that sort of thing) |
